Excellent pre-school provision for 2-5 year olds
Outdoor leaning is highly valued at Temple Nursery. Set in a beautiful rural location, the children explore the surrounding fields and woods throughout the year, in all weathers developing a deep love, understanding and respect for nature and the environment.
In recent years Temple Nursery has become involved in Forest School as another means of extending the children’s outdoor learning. They visit a local area of woodland on a weekly basis each term not only developing their understanding of the natural world but also building up social skills of cooperation, teamwork and negotiation; extending their physical abilities; solving problems and learning to manage risk responsibly.
The children build dens and hunt for mini beasts. They make mobiles and woodland pictures. They tell stories turning logs into flying cars or alligators or pirate ships. They find trees to climb, create obstacle courses and nature trails and play hide and seek. They follow maps to find hidden treasure, learn to whittle sticks, build campfires and roast marshmallows.
Moreover, the children come away from the woods confident, happy individuals, excited by their experiences and eager to go out and explore, discover and learn more.
